A Golden Result!
Congrats Warren Band & Color Guard on earning your first
Gold Medal in SCSBOA 4A Championships!
A HUGE congratulations to the students for performing their hearts out at SCSBOA Champioships Saturday Nov. 18th. Going in seeded 1st and coming out with the Gold Medal, WOW! As band director, I am most impressed with how the students handled themselves both on and off the field as young adults and the fact that they worked very hard to get where they are. The students at Warren do not take their success for granted and work hard building their skill set while also working hard off the field. There is no subsitute for hard work! This years field show was very challenging. Students were tasked with difficult techinical passages, fast and alternating tempos, lots of soli exposed phrases, difficult dynamic considerations, challenging choreography, etc. Some students had to learn to play trombone while several students were tasked with solo's. This year's visual work challenged students to twist, turn, shake, rise, fall, run, crawl all while remaining emotionally engaged to the shows intent.
Every year is incredible and there have been many terrific Warren band and color guarrds for decades. The past is just as rich in musical/performance success and quality teaching and learning at Warren as is the present. The 2017 marching season was a product of years of build up. Having an established staff and culture is essential to creating success - and that is one of the bricks we laid many years ago. The same goes for the parent support team. Our booster oganization and parents and have been working hard for many years learning to execute successful fundraisers that reep meaningful profits that sustain the program.
Thank you students for working hard, giving your best and responding positively to instruction. Your desire to be a classy and high achieving ensemble is inspirational to be around. You are among the best Warren has to offer.
Thank you staff for your vision and hard work helping each section/student always work to get better every run through.
Thank you booster executive board for giving up so much of your time and talents to help ensure a high level of success off the field!
Thank you parents for respecting the marching band schedule and allowing your child to be part of our team. Many thanks for also volutneering and donating to so many events this summer/fall.
Thank you to all the dads/parents that built props, pulled trailers, etc. You guys are amazing!
Thank you Warren admin, faculty, staff as well as district admin for your support and "yes" attitude. You allowed us to host 3 competitions this fall, go on an overnight trip and gave us encouragment.
Thank you Jenifer Donaldson and Karen Montgomery for designing and creating a beautiful and effective costume for the band.

Wonderful World is an original composition propelled by the irony of...is it or is it not a wonderful world we are living in. The music and visual work in tandem to set the scene of a post apocolyptic world. Perhaps all is ok, Perhaps all is not ok. Although the show concept and musical scoring is original, two well known songs appear in the fabric of the show. "What A Wonderful World" made popular by the infamous recordings of Louis Armstrong and Verdi's "Reqiuem, Dis Irae". The musical scoring is rich in diversity of texture, timber, technical demand, vitoustic solo and soli sections and stunning sampling and effects. Costumes for both band and color guard, staging and visually stunning flags align the musical and visual aesthetics. This show is sure to entertain and provoke intellectual resopnse.
For the fall of 2018 we will once again be composing and designing from scratch and original idea and composition.
