On Saturday November 17th, the Warren band & color guard earned back to back GOLD medals in SCSBOA field championships. In 2017 Warren won gold in the 4A division in the 2018 gold was achieved in the 5A division. Warren also earned High Percussion for the first time in school history and with a 94.15 set the new high score record for the marching band. Warren also had the highest score in Music Performance and Visual Effect. Color Guard had a great finish as well placing 3rd. The 2018 field show "Reverie" will leave it's mark on history. A final note, Warren earned the overall sweepstakes trophy in all four (4) of the SCSBOA competitions they competed in leading up to championships.
Rob Stein, ownder of Standing O Marching once again selected Warren HS to once again be a featured band on his 2018 postcard he mails out to over 5,000 high schools in the United States. It is an honor to be part of Rob's team and to be considered "good enough" to be one of the marching bands he wants representing himself and his business. Thank you Rob!
On Friday January 19, 2018 the WHS student leadership team performed for the students of an elementary school in Buena Park. The assembly was to spread musical joy and get students interested learning instruments. Thank you to band alumnist Jensine for asking us to come out and perform for her students
On Saturday November 18th, the Warren band and color guard put a golden stamp on a terrific marching band season. when they won the gold medal at 4A SCSBOA championships. Warren also won top honors in Visual Performance, Visual Effect and Music Effect. Color Guard took 2nd and Percussion tok 5th. The 2017 field show "Wonderful World" will go down in history!
On Monday October 23rd Scott Lang helped the Warren Band & Color Guard become better people presetning his leadership clinic/seminar. This powerful seminar is always an emotional roller coaster and hits home with all the students. Scott's wisdom and ability to deliver is second to none. Thank you Scott for putting Warren on your busy schedule.
On July 4th 2017, the WHS band and color gaurd performed in the Pacific Palisades 4th of July Parade. This was the first time the band and color guard performed in 4th of July parade. It was a great day to be a bear, with parade viewers being very supportive and excited to have the Warren band and color guard as a participant.
The Warren band & color guard was once again selected as one of the spot light band to be printed on the Standing "O" Marching companies annual postcard. This postcard was mailed to over 5,000 high schools all across the United States. Thank you Rob Stein for once again choosing Warren to respresent your company!e
On Saturday October 29th 2016, the marching band and color guard earned a 'clean sweep' at the Sierra Vista field tournament. A clean sweep is when a band and color guard earn all sweepstakes captions. Sweepstakes means highest score of the tournament. This is not easily accomplished. The only other clean sweep in the past 14 years was in the fall of 2015 at the West Covina Field Tournament.
In the fall of 2016, Warren HS commissioned its first original marching band show. As part of that commission process, composer Rob Stein flew from New Jersey to spend time working with and inspiring the band. It was a wonderful week that helped propel the season ahead.
The first annual disability pride parade was held in Downey in October of 2016. Appx 60 members of the band and color guard helped lead the parade in music spirit. It was a beautiful morning and a terrific event celebrating disability awareness and ability.
In September of 2016 members of the Warren band along with two other local high schools came together and participated in the first ever band night at Angel's Stadium. The three schools (Warren, Corona and Arcadia) performed the national anthem prior to the Angel's vs. Blue Jay's baseball game.
In the summer of 2016, Raising Cane's opened their 5th California store in Downey. It is part of Raising Cane's mission to be part of the community they operate in. As part of that Raising Cane's has made several contributions to the Warren band by providing tea and lemonade for many events. At the grand opening in August of 2016, Raising Cane's presented the band with a $1,000 donation. Thank you Raising Cane's for partnering with us!!!

On February 3rd 2016 members of the WHS leadership team helped celebrate the grand opening of the new Vallarta Market in Downey. This is Vallarta's 48th store in California. Thank you Vallarta for asking us to help welcome you to the community!
On January 3rd the Warren band and color guard will once again be the musical entertainment for the prestigious Semper Fidelis All Star Bowl game. This game is played in the Stub Hub center in Carson and is a high school football all star game featuring some of the most talented high school atheletes from across the country. The game is aired on TV! Check it out.
During the 2015 marching season, Warren HS Band performed a show sold through a company called Standing "O" Marching. The owner of the company Rob Stein asked if he could use Warren as one of the schools to highlight on his 2016 postcard. We are honored that Rob selected us and thought that the Warren program represented his product with pride and integrity. This post card will be mailed out to over 5,000 high schools in the United States!
for being selected to perform with the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Honor Band. Sarah and Natalie will have an experience of a lifetime marching in the Rose Parade on January 1st 2016. These two students are both terrific clarinet players and also terrific students and leaders. I'm very proud of them. Both of them will represent Warren High School band, school and community with pride, honor and integrity. Please join me in congrtulating them for their selection to be part of the Rose Parde Honor Band.
A clean sweep is when a band and color gaurd earn the highest score in every category. This includes Music Performance, Music Effect, Visual Effect, Visual Performance, Percussion, Color Guard and Overall Band. A clean has not been achieved in 13 years. (we have come close but never a clean sweep). Parents, Friends, Families, Relatives...everyone, come out and watch the remaining competitions as the band and color guard is making history once again!
The West Downey District marching band succussfully marched their first parade togethar at Disneyland on January 23, 2014. This event was a huge success with all the students, families and directors having a magical day together at Disneyland and giving an enthusiastic performance. Look for more from this awesome colaboration soon.
The 2014 marching season ended with the band and color guard being awarded the Bronze Medal in division 4A SCSBOA Field Championships. Some of the other of the other highlights included the following. The final score of the season was an 88.2 - the highest score in Warren history! (2013 87.5 previous record) Color Guard finished in 2nd place with an 86.5. Percussion finished in 2nd with a 96!!! WOW - highest percussion score in Warren history! This year the Warren band and color guard finished in first place (4A division) at all tournaments entered. At championships there were 11 other talented, oustanding and competitive bands in 4A championships and to place in the top three among them is an honor. Congrats to all the other ensembles on a wonderful season - especially Hart and West Ranch who were awarded the Gold and Silver medals in our division.
Thursday Ocotober 16th 2014 the WHS band and color guard were once again victorious in the annual battle of the bands night against Downey HS. This year the voting results were extremely close! Thank you to Downey HS and their boosters for hosting this event. Thank you everyone who attend the event and helped vote! Thank you to all the volunteers who helped with the event and Laura Diaz the event committee chair! See you all next year back at Warren HS!
On Sunday January 3 2014 the Warren band and color guard were honored to participate in the prestigious Semer Fidelis All Star bowl game. The game was played at the Stub Hub center in carson and is a high school all star football game. The band had a lot of fun and so did all that attended!
On Friday December 27th KTLA 5 announced that the Warren HS band was the winner of of the piano give away contest they sponsored this month. With the help of period 4 and Ryan Eidinger, we were able to put together a fun and creative 1 minute video and submit for the chance to win. Thank you to all the students who helped, especially Ryan who did the editing. What a wonderful gift for our students!
According to the contest rules and KTLA website: The nominated school of the winning entry (“Winning School”) will receive a Kohler & Campbell piano, model KC-142, serial number IJRCU0523 (“Prize”). Approximate retail value of the prize is $2,500.
On Monday May 13th members of the Warren HS Wind Ensemble traveled to Burbank where the LA County awards banquet for Distinguished School was being held. The Warren Wind Ensemble was one of several performing groups during the ceremony that represented the "Exmemplary Visual and Performing Arts" award. Read some of the articles below!

On Thursday December 13th the Warren band and color guard helped support the Tostitos home coming bowl by being one of two marching bands in attendance. The band performed their 2012 field show "Heroes Fallen, Not Forgotten" and the drum line helped usher the players onto the field playing a heart pumping cadence. This event was filmed and will become a 2 minute special that is to air on ESPN during the 2013 fiesta bowl game (jan 3, 2013).
